머리말

대한민국의 발전과 더불어 항공 산업도 비약적인 발전을 이루게 되었습니다. 특히 2001년 3월 29일 세계적인 규모와 시설을 갖춘 인천공항의 개항은 대한민국 항공업계에 큰 획을 긋는 일이었습니다.
개항 이후 인천공항이 세계 항공 시장의 중심이 되고 있는 동북아에 위치하여 허브공항의 역할을 하고 공항 시설 및 서비스 분야에서 세계 최고의 공항으로 평가 받게 됨에 따라 대외적으로 전 세계 유수의 많은 항공사가 인천공항에 취항하게 되었으며 대내적으로는 급격하게 늘어나는 국내 항공 수요에 대처하기 위하여 많은 저비용 항공사가 출현하게 되어 예상했던 것보다 훨씬 빠른 속도로 국내 항공시장이 비약적인 발전을 하게 되었습니다.
이에 따라 객실승무원의 수요는 점차 증가하는 추세에 있으며 객실승무원을 양성하는 학과가 많은 대학에 설립되게 되었습니다.

따라서 이러한 객실승무원 관련 학과에서의 내실있는 교육이 항공사의 안전운항확보 및 고품격 서비스 제공에 필수적인 요소가 되었습니다.
객실승무원이 근무하는 곳이 항공기이고 안전이 보장되지 않는 서비스는 아무런 소용이 없으므로 항공기에 관한 지식과 안전 및 보안관련 업무에 대한 지식을 습득하는 것이 중요하나 그 동안 항공기 구조 및 안전 및 보안업무에 대한 내용을 쉽게 이해하기에 많은 어려움이 있었습니다.
이러한 문제점을 개선하고자 그 동안 저자가 6년간 항공사 교육훈련부서 전임강사 재직 시 객실승무원을 교육했던 내용, 정년퇴직 시 까지 오랜 기간 사무장으로 비행하면서 습득한 지식 및 경험 및 대학에서 학생들을 교육하면서 느꼈던 내용들을 바탕으로 학생들이 이해하기 쉽도록 모든 내용을 설명하였고 특히 요즈음 항공기 안전운항에 문제가 되고 있는 승객의 기내난동 등 보안 업무에 대해 보다 자세히 설명 하여 적절한 보안업무를 수행할 수 있는 능력을 습득할 수 있도록 하였습니다.
더불어 최신 항공기인 에어버스사의 A350 및 보잉사의 B787항공기에 대한 내용을 수록하여 첨단 항공기에 대한 지식을 습득하도록 배려하였습니다.

특히 교재 마지막 부분에는 예비 승무원 뿐 아니라 일반인들도 궁금해 하는 항공에 관한 다양한 항공상식을 수록하여 비행 중 고객응대 시 손 쉽게 답변할 수 있도록 하였습니다. 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 앞으로 이 교재가 객실승무원이 되기를 희망하는 학생들에게 많은 도움이 되고 길잡이가 되기를 바랍니다.
